Top Review: “HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST MEALS OF MY LIFE. This little community is absolutely precious and worth the time to explore. But I fully plan to make Cafe Homestead a regular stop on road trips (or the destination altogether) for the next foreseeable future. It was THAT GOOD. The bread and butter brought literal tears to my eyes; it was amazing. The chicken dumpling pie was so fresh and warm and bubbly and was the furthest thing from a frozen chicken pot pie. The chicken fried steak melts in your mouth. Incredible attention to detail, a well-thought out menu, sweet staff and great ambience. If I could leave 100 5-star reviews I would. Cannot recommend Cafe Homestead enough.”Kacey C.

Top Review: “Our Breakfast Place- let me add this to another breakfast restaurant that I need to return to. So good. I went with the seasonal French toast stuff with cheesecake filling. It was excellent. I probably would have done with a little less filling because it was so rich. I loved the bacon too. Thank you Our Breakfast Place.” – Jake H.

Top Review: “I had the “Lee’s tacos” which were very good. Eggs, cheese, sauce, peppers, and fresh- I mean “mama made fresh” tortillas underneath the whole egg mixture. Really top notch. It’s a really small place and has limited seating, so you either wait a bit, or order at the counter to go and get it in just a few minutes. The place has a secret, or it’s maybe not a secret for regulars… they like the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the movie. There are small characters in trophy cases, there are hobby parts, and there are tools if you want to paint and make these pieces come alive. The biscuits were HUGE and buttered and scrumptious. Try it You’ll like it!”Doug B.

Top Review: “My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Waco for a couple days. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice and enjoyed our experience both times. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. We were waited on as soon as we sat down. The first visit, I ordered the blackberry mojito and my husband had two of the local beers. We ordered the barbacoa nachos. All of it was very tasty! The second visit, I ordered a glass of Riesling and my husband had Dos Equis beer. I ate the chicken paillard and my husband had the stuffed avocado appetizer. Both were delicious. The plate I ordered was basically an apply Caesar salad with a thin breaded piece of chicken breast. The dressing was on the bottom, then chicken then salad mix. You t was really good!”Vicky G.

Top Review: “Let’s say this is a 4.5. First let me say I’m impressed with how many places have deep meaning behind their establishments. World Cup Cafe is a program of Mission Waco which helps with underprivileged, homeless, battered women and so much more. Look it up! For the restaurant-Breakfast and Lunch spot away from all the popular spots in Waco. Parking limited in an older part of Waco with a REAL home cooking feel and taste. The seating inside is limited as well. I sat at the counter for that Deli feel and had a perfect view of the kitchen. The cooks were working hard and singing along with songs in the back. I LOVED watching them but the speakers in the main dining area were playing something else- mostly talk so I preferred the kitchen jam. Lol. And when food was ready, they rang a cowbell that was fun and not intrusive. I ordered from the employee of the month Rion who instructed the perfect way to eat the famous chicken salad- warmed on the grill. Even on my small salad, she was right!  Being from here all her life, she had plenty to share about the good they are doing locally when I asked for details . I paid $5 for a single scoop on a small bed of arugula with two slices of tomato. Just what I was looking for. Previous Yelp comments said it was pricey but I felt it compared to Houston prices. I didn’t eat or drink anything else but shop was definitely filled with locals who frequent here. This was a good spot for some home cooked food for a quick bite. Not really a hangout eatery.”Mele F.

Top Review: “I was craving some fish tacos and after reading some reviews decided to check out Wako Taco. We ordered 6 fish tacos that admittedly were the best fish tacos either of us remember having. The fish was breaded and fried to perfection served with a pico de gallo and a sauce. There was 3 different salsas offered at the table. All were good but the green salsa was by far my favorite. It’s very spicy and full of flavor. It should really be bottled and sold. This is a definite must try!”J A.

Packed on this Saturday morning, Mom enjoyed huevos rancheros and I had the Elefante, their huge breakfast burrito with everything for $5.00, loaded with eggs, sausage, beans, thick bacon and the best potatoes. I also had to try a chicken fajita taco which was delicious and a small bowl of menudo. We will definitely be back! Just come early or maybe call in your order if to go, cause you will have to wait a while, but it’s worth it!”Jeff C.
