Top Review: “Love it! Everything, starting from the pizzas, ambiance and ending with service!! Had the ricotta pizza and jersey Margherita and both were tremendous! Thin but super crispy crust, very flavorful with plenty of cheese! For dessert we had the tiramisu which was good too! It does deserve the hype!”Monica L.

De Lorenzo’s Tomato Pies

De Lorenzo’s is another one of the New Jersey favorites and part of the official New Jersey Pizza Trail that runs through the state. You can find them in Robbinsville, often with a line out the door.

They are a family-friendly establishment that serves authentic Italian thin-crust pizzas and Italian tomato pies.

Their plain tomato pies actually hold up pretty well and are delicious, according to reviews. The salads here are pretty good, too, and perfect to pair with some ‘za.

Top Review: “De Lorenzo’s is a special place in the central NJ area.  It is always busy and is filled with not only families looking for a good meal but also kids sports teams looking to celebrate a good game. Don’t be surprised if there is a wait, even for carry out orders from here, but the wait is absolutely worth it! Their food is extremely fresh and tasty and I love their tomato pies and personal take on pizza! My favorite toppings pairing that we got was cherry peppers and onions….definitely something new for me, but so delicious and the perfect balance of spicy and savory! If you are in the area and looking for pizza, highly recommend stopping by De Lorenzos.”Varun K.

Calabria Restaurant & Pizzeria

Calabria Restaurant & Pizzeria is another pizza place featured in the official New Jersey Pizza Trail, representing Livingston.

They are known for their ultra-thin and crispy crust, and people are amazed by how good their thin crusts are. Their specialty pies, eggplant ricotta and penne vodka pizza, are also crowd favorites.

Calabria is family-owned, with lots of indoor seating and fast service, and your pizzas come out fresh and made to order. For large groups, they offer a large 28” pizza.

Top Review: “I’m not sure what kind of wizardry goes into creating a crust that’s thin, tasty, AND structurally stable enough to maintain its rigidity under a good layer of cheese, but that’s precisely what we had here. I especially appreciated the shorn fresh basil on top of the pie. Our family also managed to polish off two other thin pies in record time – a Margherita and a white pie with so much garlic flavor that no amount of mints could disguise our postprandial breath (not that any of us were complaining).”Jane C.

Kinchley’s Tavern

Kinchley’s Tavern is a casual, family-friendly establishment with a full bar of local brews. They are known for their super thin-crust pizza and have been using the same recipe for over 80 years!

Serving the Ramsey community since 1937, they make traditional pizza flavors that are done well.

Well enough for them not to change anything for a long time. They’ve also got a variety of toppings you can mix and match to your preference.

Top Review: “5 stars for the vibes, the food and the price. It’s old school tavern style pizza and it’ll make you feel like you’re getting together for a slice after soccer practice. We prefer our pizza fra diavolo (spicy) and sometimes we order house-made meatballs as a topping – but the star of the show for whatever reason is the fried ravioli. When I order a bunch for guests or whatever I end up having to get at least 3 orders because they go so quickly. I love this place so, so much.”

Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza

Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza is another popular pizza spot in New Jersey. It’s family-owned and operated and has something for everyone.

It really seems like they’ve got anything you could want — from different pizza styles to the most basic pizza to specialty pies with many variations.

People say it lives up to the hype and is worth the long lines. They recommend you try the 1940 Genuine Tomato Pie with no cheese and just sauce for a pizza straight from the past. It doesn’t sound great, but it’s a crowd favorite.

Top Review: “Got a chance to go here as the centerpiece of my pizza vacation to New Jersey.  Santillo’s was everything that can be great about a pizza joint under one roof… three generations of a family pizza recipe, a great oven, an owner that’s larger than life and the best pizza I’ve ever had. Santillo’s cooks their pizza well by default, so I just asked for not too well.  The crust had great crisp and the sauce was multi-dimensional, balanced and robust.  You can’t claim you’ve seen all the best pizza places in the country, or come close to it, without getting to Santillo’s”Joe A.
