Woodfield Mall

Woodfield Mall is the largest shopping mall in the Chicago area and one of the largest in the country. It’s home to over 200 stores, including Macy’s, Sears, Lord & Taylor, and JCPenney.

This is the perfect day for some retail therapy after a day’s adventure. Or you could easily spend an afternoon here!

LEGOLAND Discovery Center

Another attraction inside Woodfield Mall is the only LEGO®-themed indoor attraction in Illinois. The Legoland Discovery Center is a kids’ paradise with more than a million LEGO bricks!

The place features hands-on play areas with LEGO models for building and even rides!

Some of the things you can do include building your own car and driving it down the Giant Speed Ramp. You can also listen in on a lesson from a Master Model Builder. The main attraction is a model of the Windy City called Miniland. With over a million bricks, you’ll see icons like the Bean, Willis Tower, and Soldier Field.

Your kids will have a field day here!

Spring Valley

Spring Valley is perfect for a day out in the fresh air and having a peaceful outdoor adventure. The site is home to acres of forest areas, a nature center, hiking trails, and so many flora and fauna. There are also some top attractions inside the place like the Volkening Heritage Farm and Bison’s Bluff Nature Playground.

The place is considered an outdoor museum where you can observe nature at its finest. The Vera Meineke Nature Center has a variety of animal exhibits, gardens, and hiking trails. The Volkening Heritage Farm features demonstrations of traditional farming methods.

Some of the things to do here are fishing, model trains, and a carousel. You can also follow the walking and hiking trails. There’s a little something for everyone to do!

Water Works Indoor Water Park

If you’re looking for things to do with kids, head to Water Works. This water park is a great place to cool down on a hot day and features slides, pools, and a lazy river. Other features include a lap pool, beach entry pool, diving pool, and a water playground.

Lynfred Winery is about 4 miles from Schaumburg and is a 10-minute drive. This winery offers wine tastings, tours, and a gift shop. They have over 20 wines to choose from, including reds, whites, blush wines, and even fruit wines.

The winery is a famous place to go if you want a tasting tour or to bring home some delicious wine. It’s also beautiful out here with food and rooms available.

Busse Woods

If you need a trip to nature, Busse Woods is the perfect destination near Schaumburg. It’s about a 12-minute drive from the city’s center, near Spring Valley. The woods spans 3,500 acres with a 17-acre forest preserve dedicated to an elk herd.

The woods are a great place for a hike, bike ride, or picnic. There’s also an animal farm, fishing pond, and playgrounds. If you’d like to get on the water, you can rent a kayak or paddleboat and spend some time on Busse Lake.
