How French Market won Prairie Village’s hearts
The story of French Market cannot be told without its sister restaurant, Café Provence, the upscale French bistro the Quillec family opened back in 2001.
For over a decade, regulars at Café Provence kept begging to take the soups, stews, and desserts home with them, and in 2013, Patrick and Joanne Quillec finally listened.
They opened French Market as a more casual, grab-and-go sister concept just steps away, modeled after the épiceries and traiteurs of France, the independent artisanal shops where locals pick up made-from-scratch meals to enjoy at home. 🧑🍳
The business has stayed a genuine family affair from day one.
In 2019, the family expanded French Market into a larger space just doors down, adding a full café with dine-in service, a bar, and a patio, and just this month, they knocked down another wall to make even more room for the crowds that keep showing up. 🎉
Locals return for the same reason they’d return to a friend’s house for dinner: familiar faces, consistent quality, and food that tastes as if someone’s grandmother stood over the stove herself.
