Tucson’s north side holds a southern-style gastropub that has been feeding locals for over a decade with bold flavors and genuine hospitality.
The Parish built its reputation on creative comfort food that blends Cajun soul with Southwest attitude.
This is the place where alligator gets roasted for Mardi Gras and where shrimp and grits feel like home.
What started as chef Travis Peters’ vision in 2011 has grown into something the community truly owns.

How The Parish Won Local Hearts
The Parish opened in 2011 as a personal project for executive chef Travis Peters, who had spent nearly 25 years working his way up through Tucson’s kitchen scene.
Peters started as a dishwasher at Mama Louisa’s before becoming chef at the now-closed Nonie Restaurant, then moving through Old Pueblo Grille and McMahon’s Prime Steakhouse.
His time as executive chef at the Cup Cafe at Hotel Congress gave him the confidence to create something entirely his own.

Together with partners Steve Dunn and Bryce Zeagler, Peters designed The Parish to reflect his style of cooking unapologetically.
The restaurant quickly became known for down southern home cooking executed with modern technique and genuine creativity.
For 14 years, Peters ran the kitchen, experimenting with everything from hot sauce gummy bears to smoking, fermenting, and curing ingredients in-house.

In September 2024, Peters departed The Parish to pursue new opportunities, leaving Dunn and Zeagler to continue the legacy he helped build.
The team has kept the spirit alive, maintaining the Southern comfort menu that made locals fall in love with the place in the first place.
Every year, The Parish hosts Tucson’s most anticipated Mardi Gras celebration, roasting six 25-pound alligators over an open fire in a tradition tracing back to centuries-old bayou culture.

Regulars come back for the three-part harmony summer lunch deal, the creative seasonal cocktails, and the feeling that this place genuinely cares about feeding people well.
The restaurant has become a north side institution, drawing crowds for everything from weekday po’boys to special occasion seafood boils.
People stay loyal because The Parish delivers consistent quality with a side of personality you cannot find at chain restaurants.
