How Home Slice Pizza Won Toledo Hearts
Home Slice Pizza did not become a Toledo institution by accident—it took passion, persistence, and really good pizza. Seventeen years ago, Michael Knight decided he wanted to be part of downtown Toledo’s revitalization and opened Home Slice as one of the first businesses on St. Clair Street.
The restaurant quickly became what many call “the Cheers of downtown Toledo”—a place where everybody knows your name and the pizza never disappoints.
In December 2022, Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports gave Home Slice a respectable 7.4 score, praising the crispy, crackery crust.
The real testament to success is community support—over the years, the restaurant has employed more than 200 people and won multiple awards from Toledo City Paper, The Blade, and Lucas County Health Department. ❤️
