Some restaurants feed a town, and a few manage to become part of the town itself. 🌴
Tucked into Belfair Towne Village, Truffles Cafe is one of the most talked-about Bluffton restaurants in the Lowcountry.
This is a family-owned restaurant with four decades of stories, a devoted crowd, and a menu that keeps people coming back.

How Truffles Cafe won Bluffton’s hearts
In the early 1980s, developer Charles Fraser was building a new shopping center in Sea Pines on Hilton Head.
Price Beall, his brother Sandy, and sister-in-law Kreis, all restaurant people, met him at a gathering, and he asked whether they wanted to open a restaurant there.
The trio flew to New York to scout concepts, then came home and opened the first Truffles Cafe in 1983. ✈️
It began as a full bakery with deli cases, a live fire grill, and a specialty foods market. Sandy and Kreis moved away in 1986, but Price and his wife, Karen, whom he met at the restaurant, kept the business going.

After rave reviews and growing fame on Hilton Head, the family opened a second Truffles Cafe in Belfair Towne Village in 2000.
They later added Chow Daddy’s in Hilton Head in 2014 and Bluffton in 2015, and in 2016 longtime managers Fernando and Heather Lossada, who also met at Truffles, became partners. 💍
That is the secret ingredient locals talk about: a place where staff fall in love, stay for years, and eventually help run the show.
When a menu holds steady for decades, and the family stays put, a restaurant stops feeling like a business and starts feeling like a neighbor. ❤️
