Juliana’s

No list of best Brooklyn pizzas would be complete without mentioning Juliana’s. Juliana’s is one of the more popular pizza places in Brooklyn.

It’s got a fascinating history as the “rival” of a next-door pizzeria, Grimaldi’s. In fact, the two pizzerias were founded by the same person — Patsy Grimaldi.

Long story short, Patsy first founded Grimaldi’s but retired in 1998. In 2012, he came out of retirement to open Juliana’s next door to Grimaldi’s.

Aside from its history, it’s undeniable that the pizza sets this establishment apart. They have set the bar high for other pizza places, and there are no reservations so expect long lines and waits.

There’s not a lot of customization you can do on the pizzas themselves, but when they’re already delicious, why change it? Their must-try is the Margherita pizza.

Top Review: “If anyone asks me what my favorite pizza place in NYC is, I’ll tell them Juliana’s without hesitation. While NYC has no shortage of great pizza spots, when I’m in the mood for pizza and have the time to enjoy it, I’m coming here – especially if I have a friend visiting. That’s how I came to visit the first time and have been back several times since. I’m not the only one who likes Juliana’s so there is typically a line out front as it’s not a large location but if you plan well, you won’t wait too long.”Sarah M.

They offer regular pies, square pies, white pies, and specialty pies like the Chaos Pie. As in most popular pizza shops, there is a wait time. You can get your pizza by the slice or a whole box.

Top Review: “THE BEST PIZZA IVE HAD IN MY LIFE. Phil Rosenthal, thank you. If it wasn’t for Somebody Feed Phil, I wouldn’t even know about this place! The place is a staple in Brooklyn and their pizza is unmatched. The dough is perfectly airy, crispy, and light. The tomato sauce is homemade, perfectly seasoned and sweet topped with mozzarella and basil. It’s pure perfection and they’ve been slanging these pies longer than I’ve been alive.”Hannah H.

Top Review: “This was hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. Truly unbelievable, will be our new spot from now on. The BYOB thing was also great – we were able to put our names down, hang out for a bit and grab a bottle of wine, then head back and immediately be seated. The calzone was also incredible (we got garlic on ours). Absolutely amazing!!Jake B.

This pizzeria is so good that they already have multiple locations around the country. Their vibe is much more casual and hip and their pizzas are perfect for IG with those leopard-spotted crusts.

Pizzas come in traditional classic flavors, but their specialties are truly unique and interesting. Their most famous specialty is the Bee Sting Pizza.

Top Review: “This might just be the only spot that serves honey on pizza. I can understand why this is one of their most popular pizza. The bee sting pizza come with tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili, and honey. It is cheesy, sweet and spicy at the same time. Must try!”Katherine M.

Top Review: “This was hands down one of our favorite pizza places when visiting New York. Think: thin crispy crust that holds its weight without toppling over in your hand, a perfectly balanced tomato sauce and just the right amount of toppings and cheese. They also serve Mexican cokes so that scores them some serious brownie points. We visited on a Saturday night around 6pm and they were busy but the line moved quick. I personally loved the no-frills ambiance. The name lived up to the hype and it was well worth the trek from midtown Manhattan!”Sim J.

The sicilian pies are very large, very saucy, good amount of cheese  and the crust is not too crispy and not too soft. No toppings are needed because it is already very flavorful and delicious.”Vincent L.
