Wilmington, Delaware has no shortage of places to grab a morning bite — but every so often, a spot comes along that genuinely earns its place in a community’s heart.
Urban Kitchen, perched along Kirkwood Highway in the Prices Corner Shopping Center, is exactly that kind of place.
Owned by brothers-in-law Jimmy Nitsolas and Phil Hanos, this lively breakfast and brunch destination has turned weekend wait times into a badge of honor — and regulars wouldn’t have it any other way. 🍳

How Urban Kitchen Won Wilmington’s Hearts
Jimmy Nitsolas, born and raised in Andros, Greece, served in the Greek Navy before embarking on a career in food, working his way up from cook to chef.
Phil Hanos, a Cherry Hill, New Jersey native with Greek roots, trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York — bringing a polished, comfort-forward approach to every dish on the menu.
Together, the duo brings over 40 combined years of restaurant industry experience to the table — 18 of them spent right here in the Wilmington area.
Urban Kitchen officially opened in 2022, and from the start, the owners weren’t sure what to expect.

It didn’t take long before the restaurant earned the Best Diner award in Wilmington’s Community Choice Awards, a milestone that cemented Urban Kitchen as a cornerstone of the local dining scene. 🏆
The Mediterranean influence from their Greek heritage is woven throughout the menu, giving even familiar breakfast staples a fresh, soul-warming spin.
Locals on community forums describe it as “on par with NYC restaurants” — high praise for a neighborhood spot in Delaware. 🌟
The secret sauce, if you will, is a simple one: great food, genuine hospitality, and two owners who still show up every day and work side by side with their team.
